Walk, Wheel, and Ride for Dignity (30 sec. 2005) Shot, directed, and edited by Lester Alfonso with Super8 photography by Wayne Eardley.

Archive Showcase

Day 18 of 360 videos from my archive. Today’s video came about when Peterborough activist Linda Slavin asked us for help in 2005 to fill some airtime that was donated to her by CHEX TV to help spread the word about a rally.

I was lucky enough to be working with Steve Rose and Tim Rowat at PowerHouse Digital (one of the only video production houses around at the time) and we donated our services and resources for the cause.

It was a complicated shoot for something so simple. There were many interviews and I insisted on shooting them all while I projected a film in the background. I had access to a movie theatre at the time, thanks to Cinema 379, and I managed to bring everyone down there for an interview and coordinated picture and sound.

Wayne Eardley generously provided the super8 footage from his own personal body of work and Linda Slavin worked with us on the script.

If you are spearheading a humanitarian or “green” cause that could use my skills as a maker of video content that is minute in length or under, please do not hesitate to contact me. I’d like to help. — LA

P.S. If you’re liking these daily posts, perhaps you can consider becoming a monthly donor for a year or making a one-time contribution. It would seriously help a lot. Your money goes directly into supporting an artist committed to continually become the best version of himself. Thank you so much! Much love, LA
