Day 8 of 360 videos from my archive. Look for the easter egg in today’s video. It’s a commercial I did for the organizer of the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2006.

During the final screening, I turned to the client and said “Look, I have to be honest. I wanted to try it so I did something to your commercial that I need to tell you about.”

Clad in a leather trench coat and shiny leather boots, he made a crunching leather sofa noise when he leaned forward and said: “I’m listening.” I was kinda nervous because I wasn’t sure if what I was suggesting was even legal.

I turned to my computer, I picked up my mouse and scrubbed the playhead forward on the video timeline. “Here,” I said. “At the twenty-eight-second mark. I inserted a frame of your special guest Michele Smith.” I played him the commercial again.

For a micro flash, Michele Smith appeared and he saw it this time “Are you suggesting subliminal advertising?” he asked. “I guess so, yeah,” I said. Making that same sofa leather noise as he leaned back, he said, “I like it. Keep it in.”
